Babysitter Reference Letter Sample

To find a new job, babysitters usually need a reference letter from previous employers. If they have work experience, they may get a reference letter from their teacher or friend.

The process of writing a reference letter for a babysitter may seem intimidating especially if you haven’t written a reference letter before. It is fortunate that all reference letters have common elements so you can basically write one along the lines of another. A reference letter for a babysitter needs to be targeted; you would want to bring out the babysitter’s good points so that she can be considered for another position that is similar in nature.

The best way to go about this is to familiarize yourself with the position that the babysitter intends to apply for. Ask questions; if possible, obtain a copy of the job description so that you can tailor your recommendation accordingly. Since you will be writing a reference letter for a babysitter, let us take it for granted that she has worked for you for a certain period of time and you are aware of her merits. Do not be shy in listing all her good points and if you feel that she lacked in some area, do not bother mentioning it!

If you know the name of the person that the reference letter will eventually be read by, put in a salutation. If not, write the letter with a standard ‘To Whom It May Concern’ header. Following are 2 samples that you can take assistance from:

To Whom It May Concern

It is my pleasure to write this reference letter for May Gardner who has babysat my sons (now 8 and 10) since they were infants. May began working for me as a part time babysitter 6 years ago. She was initially hired to look after my children during the evening (while I was away at a night shift at Seven Eleven) but I kept her on even after I left my job.

May has been a blessing for me. As a widow, it was difficult to look after two little children and work to make ends meet and May helped me pass that very trying time. She was patient with my children especially Mason (the younger one) who was a very bad tempered 2 year old. She brought out the best in both my sons and even managed to teach them phonics before they were of school going age.

Our community in Mayfield holds many charity events for orphaned children and May has been a constant at all these events. Her love for children and their wellbeing is evident from the way she conducts herself around them. Owing to her compassionate and dependable nature, I believe that she will be an asset to any family that she works for.

Please feel free to call me at (444) 444-4444 if you need any additional information regarding May and her work.

To Whom It May Concern

I know Claire David for two years as she worked in the capacity of a Babysitter of my two children. During her tenure, she proved herself a sincere and trustworthy person.

I am satisfied from her work as she has not overlooked a day during this tenure and is always arrived on time. Claire has been very cooperative with my children. In addition to managing the needs of children, she also proved herself a champion of all domestic chores including kitchen assistance and other domestic works. She also had maintained excellent grades in school simultaneously with babysitting.

Because of Claire’s good judgement and good work habits, I would highly recommend her for any job in childcare and domestic assistance field. In case of query please contact me via phone or email.

I wish her best of luck in all future endeavors.

Sincerely,
